Istanbul

Brent had a trade show for work in Istanbul last week so we decided to extend the trip a few days and make it a little vacation. We flew out Monday afternoon and flew back Saturday am(soooo early Saturday!). The weather was great, we tried some awesome new food and just enjoyed the week. Elliot is really spoiling us and was an amazing little traveler once again. Oh, and the Turkish people LOVED him! I guess they are not used to seeing a blond haired, blue eyed boy very often. Everyone was super nice and I think Elliot left Istanbul thinking he was a prince or something ;) Here are just a few pics from our first couple days.

And then show him off to his brothers in the kitchen

Being a tourist is exhausting(note the raisins in his sleeping hands)

Elliot Lately

Instead of my usual Favorites post(which admittedly I have been awful at doing lately) I am going to do a little Elliot update.

- He is still an awesome little eater. He really will try anything and most of the time loves it. People keep telling me to prepare for a change in his eating around 15 months but I am really hoping that doesn't happen to him!
He loves using his fork and spoon. And of course his hands :)

- He waves to everyone any opportunity he can. I love how outgoing and friendly this little man is. When he is in his stroller or riding on the bike everyone gets a wave and a smile. It is always fun to see people as we approach them and they are usually smiling or laughing at Elliot.

- He is obsessed with any truck or machine. He LOVES watching the recycling truck come and pick up all of the recycling from across the street. Every time we see one he puts and starts babbling and will strain his neck trying to keep looking at it. Most of the drivers get a big wave from Elliot :)
Like father like son. Watching the trucks

We had some work being done on the sidewalk outside of our place. He sat and watched for 20 minutes!

- Anything that opens and closes will keep Elliot occupied for long periods of time.

- He loves dogs or as he calls them "Gogs". If we see a dog he starts saying, "woof woof" and it is one of the cutest things ever!

We have so much fun with him and are loving this stage so much! Looking forward to what the next stage brings!

Copenhagen

This past weekend I had my girls weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark. I went with my two good friends Melissa and Daina. It was the first time that both Daina and myself left our little ones over night and we both did great! I loved having the time away but was definitely excited about getting home to my boys!

We all met at the train station in Utrecht with plans of taking the train to the airport. Of course once we got there we learned due to some damage on the train tracks there were no trains going to Schipol airport. Thankfully, Daina's husband was able to drive us and we made it to the airport with no issues.

Once we got to Copenhagen it took us a little bit to figure out the public transportation. Everything was done on machines and no one was around to ask which zone we had to go to! We finally got it figured out and ended sitting in traffic on a bus for at least 20 minutes, it was awful! After we dropped our bags off the first thing we did was get some lunch and coffee!

Gorgeous day in the city
We spent the afternoon/early evening walking around the city. We also enjoyed some wine on a dock along the water. We had dinner and drinks and had a great night talking at the apartment we rented.

Ice cream was a must

We are dedicated! Getting our workouts in at the apartment
I'll be back with a couple more posts about the weekend soon!
